Modern development processes in machine and plant engineering are often organized sequentially. Development begins during mechanical construction, followed by electrical construction and software development. This procedure is time-intensive and does not ensure development of the optimal mechatronic product. As a result, great potential can be derived from a parallel mechatronic engineering process.

Within the framework of the research project AQUIMO user companies, research institutes and Mind8 have developed a novel, practical mechatronic development method supported by the Eplan Engineering Center and based on a cross-company reusable modular design system. Through the selected tool support, this new method can be seamlessly integrated into existing process and IT landscapes.
